Putting the name of a maintenance provider on an application isn't enough.
You need to understand how your vehicles and trailers will be maintained, your planned safety inspection arrangements and how defects and repairs will be managed.
Once you start operating, you need to be able to demonstrate that those arrangements are actually being followed.
4. Getting Financial Standing Wrong
Financial standing is another area new operators can underestimate.
You need to understand the financial requirement that applies to your proposed operation and be capable of providing suitable evidence when required.

5. Not Considering Transport Management Properly
Depending on the type of Operator Licence you're applying for, you may need a professionally competent Transport Manager.
This isn't simply about putting someone's name on the application.
A Transport Manager must be capable of exercising continuous and effective management of the transport operation.
Understand What You're Promising
Perhaps the most important point is that an Operator Licence application contains commitments about how your business will operate.
Once the licence is granted, those commitments don't disappear.
You are expected to comply with your undertakings and maintain the systems you've said will be in place.
